Project Brief

This project was initially just a new logo for my adult league soccer team but I loved it so much that I developed it into a mini branding and social media project. I took a lot of inspiration from Tottenham Hotspur (my favorite English Premier League team) for a lot of the content created. I wanted to add my own personal flair with the glitching effects and the grunge/noise looks. This was a super fun exercise to explore and I will probably create more project items in the future.

Logo

The logo was where I started first when developing the look for the Brew. The name comes from the MLS soccer team the Columbus Crew which is many of my team mates favorite team in the U.S. So the black and gold colors came from their color scheme. The team also enjoys craft beers and metal music so the idea for a "hop skull" came to me naturally. I tried to create a cool, modern logo that also had a touch of retro english styling to it i.e. the old school leather soccer ball in the background.

Brew Gif

I knew the logo would have to work in a variety of formats and sizes so I created a responsive logo set. This allows for a consistency of branding across all forms of media.

Collateral

I wanted to make a game program to put the fonts, colors, and general look into practice in a realistic setting. I chose the gothic style font Goudy MT and the sporty, sans-serif Hudson N.Y. font as my primary fonts. SF Pro Display Regular is the font I chose for all body copy across all the content created. I like it's look as a clean and easy to read sans-serif font and it plays well with both the gothic and thick primary fonts. This piece also carries the modern sporty and grungy theme I have created for the branding.

Social Media Ads

For the social media ads, I chose to make a couple of boosted Facebook posts and a couple of Instagram stories. I recreated the UI of both social media networks to try to illustrate a realistic setting and use case scenario.

T-Shirts

What good is a team with a really good logo without some merch to show it off? I made a few trendy sports apparel designs to show off the logo and to really expand the branding potential. I have carried a few design elements through all the pieces to bring some cohesion to the overall look I am trying to establish.
